RIP William Moody, aka "Paul Bearer" of Pro Wrestling

William Moody, popularly known by the pro wrestling personality that he portrayed, "Paul Bearer", who acted as the manager of popular pro-wrestler "Tee Undertaker", has died. He was 58 years old.

As Paul Bearer, Moody portrayed an unsettling figure, who had his face painted white, to resemble one already dead. He carried an urn with him, and also spoke in an exaggerated, high voice, to add to the creepy element of his character. Of course, "The Undertaker" himself claimed to be "undead", perhaps the WWF's attempt to represent the supernatural, seemingly risen from the dead.

Moody did not just play a mortician in the world of wrestling, he had a background of it in real life, having studied mortuary arts

"It was one those had-to-be-there moments when Vince realized I was the real thing, the real deal," Moody told the website. "I was the real Undertaker."

The WWE released the following statement after Moody's death:

"WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer.

"Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans."
