Why Are Bees Disappearing?

Most of us have heard about how bees seem to be disappearing from the world lately, and it has not been immediately obvious why this would be the case.

When we are young, bees can often seem scary. Particularly those big, hairy bumblebees.

But hopefully, when we grow up, we grow out of this limited and limiting way of viewing things, and we can see the true benefit of bees, and what they make, and what they mean. They pollinate flowers, helping them to grow. They make food - to my knowledge, the only kind of food, other than water, that does not rot.

I remember when I was a kid, scared of bees, and my father told me just how good bees were. Moreover, he told me about a quote, something to do with how human beings would not last more than four years if bees were to disappear from this Earth. Specifically, he was referring to a quote by Albert Einstein:

"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left."

Yet, bees are disappearing, and far too many of us either seem to deny this or, even worse, appear indifferent to it.

But bees are disappearing, and we do need to understand why, exactly, this is happening.

So, here is an article that I wanted to share on the subject:
