A Leopard Takes Care of the Newborn of a Fallen Prey

It's kind of funny that I ran into this on my Facebook account, by chance, because we were watching a nature program on life in the Arctic regions just last night. Of course, life in those frigid regions is very difficult, with very few species actually trying to brave the coldest weather during the winter months (although male penguins apparently do).

We were really fascinated for some of it, and stayed up watching the program, even though we were both exhausted and should have been sleeping. There was a female polar bear with her cubs (three at first, but one was malnourished and disappeared before the family reached the sea, and the sustenance of fish).

Finally, we both began to drift off, until at some point, we realized that the program was over, and a new program (also on the arctic regions) had come on.

So, when I saw this, I was in the mood and the proper frame of mind to watch it.

Truth be told, it's rather sad, yet heartwarming, all at once. You don't know what is going to happen to the newborn, but it really makes you wonder about the automatic assumption by some people that beasts are, by their very nature, cruel to other species than their own, or that they do not care.

If you watch this, you will see the care of a mother, even when it is not her own offspring that she is caring for. Hell, even if it is not the young of her own species that she is caring for!

This is worth a look, and I highly recommend it!
