New Hampshire House Votes to Legalize Marijuana

It almost seems absurd, how many times I find myself writing blog entries in favor of marijuana legalization. You might get the impression, mistaken I assure you, that I'm some kind of a pothead. I tried it once. That's it. Unlike Clinton, I did inhale. But I felt nothing. Also, probably unlike Clinton, I would be willing to try again, and hopefully, would get the "good stuff" this time around.

Now, it's starting to look like I may be able to do it completely legally, and without having to travel terribly far.

That's because New Hampshire seems to be well on it's way to becoming yet the next state, and the first state on the East Coast, to legalize marijuana. The city of Portland, Maine (itself quite close to New Hampshire) already opted to do so. But if New Hampshire as a state chooses to do so, I would definitely be impressed!

The tide is turning on this issue, I think.  Part of the reason that I have been writing about it so frequently would be that things are happening fast now towards marijuana legalization. Of course, Washington and Colorado have been making news. Then, there was Portland, Maine. Now, New Hampshire! The bill is HB 492, and the House voted in favor of legalization, 170-162, just yesterday!

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, the governor has been promising to veto this particular bill. No one ever said that progress comes quickly or too easily, after all. But change is a-comin'! You can feel it in the air!

Here are some of the news sources that will explain more on this particular subject matter:
