RIP, Pete Seeger

Legendary folk singer and songwriter Pete Seeger has died of natural causes. He was 94 years old.

Seeger was a highly influential and popular musician, and was very well known for his activism, and the spirit of protest that he embodied. Always seemingly at the center of controversy, Seeger was active in different eras, with all different liberal struggles. He pushed for civil rights in the forties, fifties, and sixties. He sang against and was active in the anti-Vietnam movement. Then, he was active in the anti-war movement and environmental activism in the seventies and beyond.

Seeger performed in the inaugural concert for President Obama, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
