Some Travel Tips From Russians and Japanese FOr Visiting America

Japanese Tips For Visiting America:

Many are rather complimentary, while some actually seem to urge the Japanese to take a look at themselves and their own habits (I'm thinking, particularly, of the one regarding excessive drinking and smoking being looked down upon as a sign of weakness in character).

The most complimentary one is about the American enthusiasm, which they say is real, and which the authors clearly appear to admire.

Russian Tips For Visiting America:

Now, the Russian one was actually pretty funny. Particularly the tip about talking to American women. Basically, they almost seem to suggest not to because, according to them, American women are "uptight", and feel easily threatened and/or offended.

Like the Japanese tips, the Russian ones also take a complimentary view in some cases - particularly of American optimism, just like the Japanese do. They do point out that all of the smiling may seem fake, but it is just that Americans are born and raised to be happy.

One thing that I found interesting was the focus on health, and how Americans viewed it differently than Russians did. This is an issue that I, personally, will admit to taking a particular fascination to, since I have long wondered why Americans are the only people in an industrialized nation that have not yet figured out a way to establish some form of affordable, universal health care. Perhaps this insight by people of another nation provides something of a clue? The tip suggests that Americans are fixated with the notion of "surviving", while Russians recognize "illness". So, according to their observations, Americans tend to focus on being okay after some unfortunate incident has potentially affected their health. In the meanwhile, Russians investigate for medical problems rising from the same. Interesting observation, and I hope that I'm not reading too much into that. It was just very interesting.
