A Man Now Largely Forgotten Almost Succeeded Lincoln

Just lately, I have been on a Presidential history kick.

I happened to run into this article about a man, now largely forgotten, who almost assumed the highest office in the United States right after Lincoln was assassinated. In fact, if John Wilkes Booth had done everything that he intended to do, this man indeed would have become the new man in the White House, although it did not actually come to pass.

Still, it's pretty fascinating to learn more about Booth's intention on that day, and just how extensive he intended to exact his measure of revenge for how he felt the South had been cheated during Lincoln's years in office.
