Louisiana's Lawmakers Want Bible To be State Book

Funny, I just wrote a blog entry about Louisiana. Specifically, it was about a vast majority of the members of the state House of Reps striking down a bill that itself would have struck down that state's sodomy laws. Those laws were themselves struck down on a national level by the US Supreme Court for being unconstitutional.

Well, that won't stop Louisiana lawmakers from trying to stem the tide, and do it their own way, like they did back in 1965, a year after the Civil Rights Act ended official, state sanctioned segregation in the United States. Louisiana passed a segregationist bill that year.

Well, the sodomy laws seem to me in the same spirit.

And not that far removed, frankly, are these efforts to make the Bible the official state book.

It's hard to believe that a city like New Orleans is in a state like that, sometimes! I would love to go down to New Orleans someday, and intend to. But there is something about the rest of the state that is a bit creepy.

In any case, below is the link to article about efforts to make the Bible the official state book of Louisiana (so much for separation of Church and State, huh?):
