There is a Difference Between Empathy & Sympathy

I watched this video, and thought it was actually pretty cool.

The focus is on the difference between empathy and sympathy, with empathy being when someone can truly relate to another's cries for help, and knowing from personal experience what it feels like, while sympathy is an attempt to make someone feel like they are helping, but they are actually really just keeping themselves at arm's length.

Watch the video. It's short, and it's funny, and it also gets you to think a bit more about some of the mindless, instinctive platitudes that we all tend to use from time to time, and it is trying to get us to pay attention and be more careful.
