Alanis Morisette Gets Political!

So, we have not heard all that much from Alanis Morissette recently, but she is back in the news again.

It involves her music, but not just for the sake of the music itself. Specifically, she is throwing her weight behind a political candidate, Marianne Williamson, out in California that she really believes in, by writing a song for her.

Say Morissette:

"I was attempting to capture the passion, mission, activism, deep humanity and tenderness of Marianne, the new political sensibility she represents and the consciousness that produced it," Morissette said in a statement. "Recording at Sunset Sound with my bandmates, Marianne came by and visited. We all huddled together as the song was recorded. I love this song. I love this woman, and I love a world that would vote for her."

So, what did Williamson have to say about it?

Well, obviously, she is quite pleased with being supported by someone like Morissette, who can generate so much publicity. She had some glowing words of her own for the song that Alanis did for her:

"Alanis Morissette has produced a masterpiece," Williamson wrote on her website. "I have never heard a song more powerfully describe this moment in our history, or more lovingly call forth our generation's genius from the ashes of our pain. With her inimitable musical alchemy, Alanis has provided an anthem for our audacious quest to get America back on track."

They each compliment one another with ringing endorsements!

Marianne Williamson s an author and spiritual guide, as well as the co-founder of the Peace Alliance. She is running to represent California in the US House of Representatives in the Golden State's 33rd District.
