Monday Night Football Recap Week 10 - Panthers at Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles 45, Carolina Panthers 21

So, once again, a nationally televised night game winds up being a blow out. The Eagles simply overwhelmed the Carolina Panthers, who are rapidly falling down the ranks of the NFC South, having lost a crucial showdown with the Saints, and then following it up with a humiliating blowout loss to the Eagles.
Losing is one thing. But putting up the kind of performance that the Panthers put up last night? No resistance whatsoever?

That seems unacceptable to me, at least for a team that is vying for first place. I imagine that is the reason that they will not be division champions this season, and not be a serious playoff contender, like they were last season.

Now, as for the Eagles! Wow! Mark Sanchez looked like an all-star quarterback, and it makes me wonder where this version of Sanchez was a few seasons ago, when he was with the Jets?

Anyway, he was on last night! He completed 20 of 37 for 332 yards and 2 touchdowns! He was helped by a bit by solid running touchdowns from both Sproles and McKoy, although neither man exactly racked up huge rushing numbers overall. Sanchez was solid enough to make the Eagles offense look awesome.

Cam Newton, on the other hand, had a forgettable night, throwing three picks and getting sacked nine times. Towards the end of the night, Newton was clearly in pain. The question was just how seriously he was hurting, and will it impact his being able to play? Newtown did get a couple of touchdown passes late in the game, in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers, who had led the NFC South for most of the season, dropped to third after this one, with a record of 3-6-1. The Eagles solidified their first place ranking in the NFC East for now, remaining ahead of the 'Boys, upping their record to 7-2.
