This comes as a shock to absolutely no one.
Our beloved governor here in the Garden State, Chris Christie, started to try and gain name recognition around the country seemingly as soon as he took office. It was apparent quite early on that New Jersey was not big enough of a platform for Christie's political ambitions, as he seemed to spend almost as much time out of the state, as in it.
Christie and his team have been banking on the idea that a loud-mouthed, brash, bullying approach in politics, fulfilling many of the worst stereotypes of a "Jersey attitude", was just what this country needed. In the true spirit of modern politics, there would be no more civility, no more intelligent discussions and exchanges of ideas. In this day and age, when there is no patience for self-described experts with political solutions, Christie is right, and you better not challenge him, or else!
Well, of course, the American voting population has a dubious track record, of course. And sure enough, this approach worked. Christie got huge in time, to the point that he became a prominent name nationally, and speculation mounted that he was a viable candidate for the presidency.
Now, it looks like he is ready to take the next step and make it official, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
He still feels that his national prominence and political viability could potentially be enough to carry him to the White House, evidently. At least, he believes that on some level, since all indications suggest that he will, indeed, be making a run. That, despite roughly sixty percent of New Jersey voters who believe that he would not make a good president.
Still, he has clearly wanted a chance at the bigger stage, and he will surely try, as the Wall Street Journal is reporting. Add his name to the list of Republican candidates in 2016.
