Djokovic Could Attain Tennis Immortality This Year

This is a strange moment to mention this, since suddenly, Federer just managed to shock Djokovic a couple of days ago. Yet, Djokovic is the world's number one right now, and with good reason: his level of dominance these past few years have been amazing, truly. Very few tennis players in history can rival what he has accomplished in the last four years and change in particular, and that is why he finished as the number one men's tennis player for three of the last four years.

But there is still one major accomplishment that he has yet to achieve, although some believe that his best opportunity to achieve it is now at hand.

With all of the ailments that Nadal has been suffering as of late, and with how great Novak Djokovic has been playing as of late, I was thinking this same thing: maybe this is Djokovic's chance to win the French Open title and achieve the legendary "Career Grand Slam", which would put him in very elite territory. Only seven men in history have managed to achieve this rare feat, including two active players - Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

One of the men who achieved the feat, Andre Agassi, feels that this might be the best opportunity to win the elusive French Open that Djokovic is likely to get.

With Nadal seemingly reeling from injuries, and with Djokovic seemingly having mastered both of his other toughest opponents -  Roger Federer and Andy Murray - lately, it would appear that the world's number one tennis player is set to have a golden opportunity to finally win the one major tournament that has eluded him to this point in an otherwise storied career.

Like with Agassi and Federer before him, Djokovic has enjoyed considerable success  at Rolland-Garros before, making it to the final a couple of times, and even coming close to winning it last year.

But he always seems to fall just short. He lost in the final twice, and lost in an epic five-set match a couple of years ago. Each time, it was to the same man, the King of the Clay Courts - Nadal.

This year, Nadal appears to really be ailing. He still may be able to pull another French Open championship out of his hat, although he looks far more vulnerable than he usually does at this point.

So, this may be it. Like Roger Federer taking advantage of Nadal's ailment in 2009 to finally break through at the French Open, Djokovic could finally break it big and win the one Grand Slam event that has thus far eluded him. If he is going to do it, this might just be his chance! Time will tell...
