Why Can't We Get a Leader Like Abraham Lincoln in Washington Today?

This particular article was written for President's Day, but is applicable for today, which marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln.

Indeed, we really could use someone like Lincoln as a leader today, given the political incompetence that seems intent on reigning supreme in Washington.

However, even if we had someone like that (and let's be clear - we don't), would he even get elected? If so, would he be mocked, or would his sincerity be questioned and scrutinized relentlessly in this age of cynicism and discrediting anything and everything, to the point that he would suddenly appear downright villainous?

Makes me wonder.
