The old button from the Environmental Club days which I just happened to find on Earth Day! It is a little beat up (particularly the ends of the ribbon), but no worse for the wear, I think. And it is one of the few items that I have left from those days, so it carries a lot of great memories for me! Nothing Changes Until You Do!

"Nature is not mute, it is a man who is deaf." - Terence McKenna

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed."

~Mahatma Gandhi

"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."

~John F. Kennedy

Sometimes, when you look out at the world, read the headlines and tune into the major stories, it is depressing. All of the news seems bad, far too often. When you pile that together with all of the crazy doomsday conspiracies, as well as the actually much bigger threats to humanity (mostly self-inflicted) which actually do threaten humanity's future here on Earth, it can be downright draining.

So, here are some more positive stories that are a lot more encouraging about where this world is, other than the first one, which basically explains why plastic garbage clutters our oceans and is choking the life out of it. But the next link is about a 19-year-ld who came up with a way to clean up those oceans.

Then, the last article is about an amazing astronomical discovery by a fifteen year old.
