More on Jimmy Carter's Assessment That U.S. No Longer a Real Democracy

So, as promised, Jimmy Carter's controversial statement are making some waves.

When you have a former president looking at the political situation in the country and honestly assessing it by summing up that the United States really cannot be described as a democracy in any true sense anymore, you should probably hope that it will generate something of a reaction, right?

Well, people have taken notice.

Truth be told, it goes right along with other similar dire prognostications suggesting an effective end of democracy in America. Yet, when it is someone who used to himself occupy the highest office in the land, you probably should pay attention. Especially when that someone is Jimmy Carter, who has a strong reputation for expressing frank and honest views, and never for pushing some kind of self-serving agenda (like say, Ron Paul, with his equally dire prognostications on the inevitability of an economic collapse even more serious than the one experienced in 2008, which essentially urges you to pay money for a magazine subscription).

Indeed, though, with the loads of secretive money now pouring into elections in record numbers, it is clear that money talks, and that this has indeed come at the expense of what had been a functioning democracy.

Below is a link to one article that examines not only Carter's assertion that the U. S. is not a democracy any longer, but also asks why he should have been cut off the way he wound up being cut off.

Very good article, and it is important that we should familiarize ourselves with these kinds of stories:
