Montreal Dumps Billions of Liters of Raw Sewage Into St. Lawrence River

This story is disgusting - literally!

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre announced that the city would go ahead with plans to dump eight billion liters of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence River, which took place last night.

It was a highly controversial move, and blasted by many other mayors in other municipalities in the province of Quebec, and indeed, much of Canada. Those municipalities that were to be effected were assured that they would receive some form of compensation.

The city asked residents to limit their water usage for the next week.

The city was given the conditional go ahead by Environment Canada, although with the caveat that Montreal needed to significantly improve environmental conditions in the future.
