Luke Skywalker Absence in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Explained

One of the big questions on everyone's mind leading up to the release of The Force Awakens was why Luke Skywalker was nowhere to be seen in terms of credits. This gave rise to theories that he had turned to the Dark Side, and that he might even be Kylo Ren.

Of course, anyone who saw the movie knows, by now, that this was all hogwash. Luke Skywalker was not Kylo Ren, and there was no evidence within the movie to suggest that he had turned to the Dark Side.

However, despite being frequently mentioned and, in a sense, even being the driving force of the entire movie (remember, both the good guys and the bad guys are trying to find him), his actual appearance lasted mere seconds.

And so, that leads me to the following article, where his absence in the film is explained. And I suspected this to be the case!
