Some Lesser Known Historical Facts Never Taught in High School

Like a body of water that you first dip your toes into before submerging completely to find the surface  temperature was deceiving, history begins to look a lot different when the deeper you get into it.

Maybe things have changed now (although I do not believe that), but I learned next to nothing about the genocide of the Native Americans during my high school days. We were taught that the lands taken in the westward expansion known as Manifest Destiny were mostly empty, and that the people that these new, white settlers faced were hostile natives, which is not all that different from Jefferson referring to them as "savages."

That is, of course, just one example. Below is a link to some others, and maybe, you might be surprised to learn about some of these relatively unknown facts buried underneath the surface.
