Major Price Increases Have Been Proposed For America's National Parks

The fee for national parks might go up by more than double, if a proposal by the Trump administration actually goes through.

Right now, the fee to get into some of the most famous and iconic national parks, such as Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, stands at $30.

However, with this proposed new rise in prices, those fees might double in the near future.

One of the major concerns would be that this rise in prices would make national parks less accessible to people with limited incomes. Many people might not be able to afford such steep prices, and this could make visits to these shared treasures less accessible, and make them more exclusive, with people of a certain level of income only free to enjoy and benefit from these national parks.

The pro argument for this proposed rise in prices would be that national parks have been running in the red, and that the infrastructure is greatly outdated, and are in need of both greater protection and certain improvements. The extra incomes generated by this proposed price increase would be beneficial on this level, and would allow national parks to make the much needed updates that allow the structural integrity of the buildings, and greater protection of the natural wonders within, to be within reach.

It should be noted here that membership of national parks costs $80, and would not be affected. Membership would allow members to get into all national parks without any additional fees, other than the costs of membership, which would stand at $10 more than these proposed price increases, which would then make membership much more attractive for many.
