Telling Quote on Gun Lobby in America

I have posted this before.

However, it bears repeating, even if I did post this before, because access to guns is entirely too easy in this country, and this has long been the case. The statistics have shown that there have been more mass shootings this year than there have been actual days of the year so far, which means that, on average, there is more than one mass shooting per day in America.

When you have a problem like that, and people largely ignore it or, even worse, seem to shrug it off and think it an apparently the reasonable price to pay for the unrestricted right to bear arms for all citizens at all times, regardless of mental history or possible criminal/terrorist background.

That itself is a crime, and I just saw a Facebook post that my mom actually put up that said that there is something wrong with a country that believes that healthcare is a privilege, but owning a gun s a right.

Yes, and as I said before after prior mass shootings, it is more than likely that another mass shooting will occur soon again, and we will be mourning the losses from the senseless tragedy then, too.

One thing seems to have changed with these most recent shootings at the Planned Parenthood at Colorado Springs and at an office party in San Bernardino, and that is that the general consensus is that politicians publicly offering their prayers while doing nothing to stop these kinds of senseless acts of violence is not enough, and it is now long past the time to act.

So, here is the quote that I wanted to share, from former Chief Justice Warren Burger:

"The Gun Lobby's interpretation of the Second Amendment is one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American People by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime.  The real purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure that state armies - the militia - would be maintained for the defense of the state.  The very language of the Second Amendment refutes any argument that it was intended to guarantee every citizen an unfettered right to any kind of weapon he or she desires."
