So I finally got my bike.
Now, I kind of expected that my first session or two riding the bike might be painful. But I figured it would be my sore back, or my legs. Perhaps my knees, which have given me some problems in the past, unfortunately.
What actually wound up hurting, however, were my hands. Or more specifically, that part of my hands under my thumbs. It was just an awkward kind of thing, but I had to place my hands on the handlebars in such a way that I could hit the breaks if need be, didn't I? After all, it is a vehicle, and a potentially fast moving one, at that. So much like a car or a motorcycle, you need to be ready, just in case. But holding it in that position did admittedly, hurt my hands.
Not what I was expecting, admittedly.
I'll have to see what - if anything - I can do about that. It was not a problem that was expected. Hopefully, there is a solution.
Anyway, I was glad to finally ride a bicycle. Especially one that I can call my own. It has been probably at least twenty years or more since the last time that I could say that.

You might want to get yourself a pair of cycling gloves, which are basically made of material intended to prevent that sort of thing, and which of course have the finger tips cut off since they're not in constant contact with the handlebars. I googled "cycling gloves", and the cheapest ones seem to go for roughly 8 bucks. You could get them online, but you can probably find them not too far from you in a sporting goods store, or even a department store with a sporting goods department.
