Europe Set To Pass Robin Hood Tax, Despite Anglo-American Opposition
So, I had a blog entry earlier today about German Volkswagon workers who demanded that their fellow American Volkswagon counterparts be granted union.
Here is another case of Europeans (and, yes, celebrities) trying to urge average Americans to empower themselves.
This could be done through the Robin Hood Tax, a movement meant to cut out corporate loopholes and tax breaks, in order that they may pay their fair share, although this has not gained too much traction in Great Britain and the United States. Despite this, the tax seems about ready to be passed in many European nations, and the author, Sarah Anderson, suggests that Britain and the United States will be left behind, unless they get on board. That, frankly, seems unlikely, particularly perhaps here in the United States, given it's political climate.
Still, it is an interesting article to read, and I recommend it.
