Okay, so here is a brief update on the French Open. Just a word of warning: I am currently on an unfamiliar
computer which insists on a different format for this blogger. I have seen it before, and hate it. It is in
the same spirit as Facebook with their "improvements" which prove, in fact, not to be improvements at all. Yet,
also like Facebook, they sometimes insist, making you adjust to their nonsense. This new blogger format is, in
fact, incredibly annoying and inconvenient in numerous ways. One of them is not being able to see what it is I
am publishing in terms of pictures, and not easily being able to post pictures. Another is not having the normal
kind of control over how paragraphs are broken up. I saw an earlier post of mine that came out all in one, big
blob of words, with no paragraph breaks whatsoever.
Apologies in advance if this is how this blog entry comes out, as well. Still, I have some down time and want
to write a bit. So here goes.
The biggest news is that Serena Williams is out of the French Open due to an Achilles tendon. She will be back
at some point, pursuing her 24th career Grand Slam title. But it will not happen this year.
Rafael Nadal easily cruised to a quick and decisive victory in the second round, defeating American Mackenzie
McDonald in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3. Dominic Thiem also dispatched his opponent in straight sets in the
second round, defeating American Jack Sock 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Stan Wawrinka also defeated his second round
opponent, German Dominik Koepfer, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
As of right now while I write this, Novak Djokovic is handily beating his second round opponent,Lithuanian
Ričardas Berankis. I just checked, and Djokovic was winning that match, 6-3, 3-1.
More updates to come later. At least, that is, if I can get this blogger working properly, anyway.
