OBJ, a former spectacular Giants wide receiver who transferred to Cleveland, is going to be playing for another team in the near future. This is because, just as with the New York Giants, his off the field antics and, frankly, immaturity, proved to be actually detrimental to the team, to the point where they felt it would be better to get him out.
It feels like Odell is kind of the new version of Terrell Owens. He is a flashy wide receiver who has undeniable talent, but he seems just immature and too focused on himself and his image, to the point where it becomes a distraction for whatever team he is on, and perhaps outright hurts the team.
That is what happened with his first team, the Giants. He made some undeniably breathtaking, brilliant catches, one of which is regularly still mentioned as a candidate for greatest catch in NFL history. But he left for supposedly greener pastures in Cleveland, and it worked for a while.
But now, Beckham is singing that old tune by White Snake, the one about how he is going again on his own.
For their part, the Packers offered Beckham a veteran minimum contract. No word yet about what kind of contract, if any, the Chiefs will offer him. Again, though, he is beginning to feel a bit like a detriment to whatever team he plays for. And that is not something that any team needs, especially one that has a real chance at heading to the playoffs and possibly advancing, like his former team, the Browns.
Or, for that matter, the prospective new teams, like the Chiefs or Packers or Saints, all of whom could be playoff contenders. There is a possibility that he may wind up with either the Seahawks and Patriots, as both of those franchises have also expressed interest.
