The Rolling Stones Will Release New Album in October

Not long ago, I posted a blog entry about the new Rolling Stones tune, "Angry," which had been released on the same day that my girlfriend and I went to the beach at Asbury Park. Coincidentally, it happened to premiere while we were driving back home from our afternoon at the beach. So we, at least theoretically, were among those who heard it for the very first time, other than those around the band, and the possible internet leaks which are part of our everyday world these days.

In any case, that was merely just one track, albeit the first one, for an upcoming album called "Hackney Diamonds." It will be the first Rolling Stones album of new material in well over a decade. It also will feature guest appearance by other notable musicians, including Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Lady Gaga. 

This will be the 24th British studio album by the Stones, and the 26th American album (not sure how that one worked itself out that way, but that is the case, according to Wikipedia). As an indication of my age, I still tend to think of "Steel Wheels," Voodoo Lounge," and "Bridges to Babylon" as "recent" Stones albums. Yet, each of those albums is at least a quarter of a century old! One of them, "Steel Wheels," was actually released over thirty years ago! 

"Hackney Diamonds" will officially be released in record stores on October 20th. 

If we judge this album by the first track released ("Angry," of course), then perhaps it will be quite good. That certainly felt like a solid track.
