November 21st: This Day in History

Once again, it should be reiterated, that this does not pretend to be a very extensive history of what happened on this day (nor is it the most original - the links can be found down below). If you know something that I am missing, by all means, shoot me an email or leave a comment, and let me know!

On this day in 1620, the Mayflower Compact was signed by Pilgrims in Cape Cod. On this day back in 1783, two men - French physician Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and François Laurent, the Marquis d' Arlandes, flew over Paris with a hot-air balloon. Their flight was 5.5 miles over Paris, and lasted about 25 minutes. The balloons were designed by Jacques-Étienne and Joseph-Michel Montgolfier, better known now as the Montgolfier brothers. In 1791 on this day, Colonel Napoléon Bonaparte was promoted to full general and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armies of the French Republic. On this day 15 years later, in 1806, now Emperor Napoléon announced the Decree of Berlin, which banned all trade with England. In 1877 on this day came Thomas Edison's first great invention: the phonograph, a way to record and play back sound. Nazi chief architect Albert Speer requested POWs as labor in efforts to construct the new Berlin on this day in 1941. In 1967 on this day during the Vietnam War, General Westmoreland assured the media that the communists were losing.
