Another brilliant musician has left us.
Yesterday, Brian Wilson, best known for having co-founded and been the frontman of the Beach Boys, died at the age of 82.
With the Beach Boys, Wilson was the main guy behind an innovative, even a revolutionary, experimentation with pop music, particularly with the Pet Sounds album. That got the band to be regarded almost as the American answer to the Beatles.
In later years, Wilson and the remaining Beach Boys went their separate ways. In fact, Wilson urged people not to attend Beach Boys concerts some years ago due to their support of Donald Trump.
A few years ago, I took my son to see Brian Wilson, who was touring with Chicago. It is a show that I am glad to have gone to, as he got to see one of the individuals often regarded as a true icon of 20th century music.
Rest in peace, Brian Wilson.
