A Rare Close Encounter With a Young Buck With Full Antlers in Hillsborough, New Jersey

Earlier this week, I just happened to get close to a young buck (literally, a male deer). It happened almost by chance.

Really, I was just taking out the recycling in the little shed. Behind the shed was this deer. He was startled to see me and clearly thinking of running away.

So I tried to be careful and quiet, placing the normally louder recycling bag and box down gently. Trying to make as little noise as possible.

Didn't want to startle him, you know?

Then, I gently (and quietly) closed the shed door, fished my cell phone out of my pocket, and set the camera for it. Also as quietly as possible, I rounded the corner of the shed back so that I could get a view of this beautiful creature.

Of course, seeing deer around here is not all that rare. Still, how often do you get this close to one, let alone one with such a beautiful set of antlers?

It almost made me feel like a nature photographer, instead of just some bozo snapping a few pics with his cheap cell phone camera.

Still, the photos came out okay, I think. So did the video clip, which seemed like a good idea, as well.

Take a look at the pictures below. And please feel free to share your thoughts or recommendations.
