LA Dodgers Outlast Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 To Capture Second Straight World Series Championship

The Blue Jays took a 3-2 series lead into Toronto, seemingly on the edge of their first World Series title in over three decades.

That said, the Los Angeles Dodgers are champions for a reason. They have set the standard of excellence in baseball so far in the 2020's. And their successful efforts in winning both Game 6 and Game 7 on the road underscored precisely why this is the case. Down 3-0 yesterday, they hung on and crawled their way back into the game, first chipping away at the lead and then erasing it. Eventually, they managed to score what proved to be the winning run in the 11th inning.

With this win, the Dodgers achieve something that has become relatively rare in some North American sports in recent decades: winning consecutive titles. The Dodgers became the first team since the New York Yankees in 2000 to win back-to-back titles.

Now, I will not pretend not to be disappointed. It should come as no surprise that I was rooting for the Blue Jays. Strongly rooting for them. It was one of the rare times when I took a strong interest in baseball.

However, it seems like it was truly a great series. Surely, this will rank as one of the greatest World Series in history. Truly a classic.

Still, the Dodgers are champions. They did what they had to do, surviving adversity while on the brink of elimination and ultimately triumphing, to their credit. Congratulations are deserved.

As for the Blue Jays, let's hope that they get back to the World Series in the not too distant future. Maybe they can utilize the valuable experiences they gained during this season, including this amazing playoff run, and write a very different ending sometime in the future.
