A Weekend Encounter With Some Classic Volkwagens

One of the pleasures which I take from time to time is simply seeing some old, classic car models. Anyone who has been following this blog knows that I posted some pictures of some old French cars during my recent trip, particularly (but not exclusively) of Citroens. Even though I was in France, these models are rare enough that, to me, they warrant taking pictures and posting blog entries about them.

Well, while I was driving home from work on Sunday, my glance just happened to fall on some old Volkswagens in the parking lot of a Quik Check not too far from my home (close to Duke Farms, in fact).

There was a European license plate (from Germany, specifically) attached to the front of one of the VW's. Seeing European plates also is a small pleasure to see (at least for me). Not sure that this was a "real" license plate, however, since it read, simply, "FILTHY" (see the pictures below).

So I decided to take a few moments and get some pictures. While I was taking the pictures, a couple of the owners (there were three of these cars altogether) came out. The one guy joked that he charged $5 a picture. I laughed, and told him that I loved seeing old VW Beetles. He nodded, seemingly pleased.

Seemed worth sharing the pictures here.

Enjoy.
