Once again, Donald Trump is trying to sell Canadians on an idea which, it seems quite clear, they collectively have no interest in whatsoever. He is claiming that Canadians are very interested in receiving the protection of his "Golden Dome," which is really nothing more than Reagan's now recycled Star Wars military system. In so doing, King Con Don is pathetically trying to entice them on the idea of abandoning their status as a successful, independent nation in good standing with the world, and join the United States. Like with everything regarding Trump, it sure feels like a scam. Trump wants to sell Americans on this idea, as well, suggesting (clearly not truthfully) that Canadians are seriously considering this "offer" when polls show that they obviously are not.
If Trump and the MAGA White House have their way, then Canada could be under Trump's thumb. Yes, he continually tries to allure them with the notion of being the "51st state" in a United States that is not living up to that name. Which instead, feels like a disjointed nation being torn apart at the seams. That's what he assumes Canadians might actually prefer, instead of enjoying the prosperity and stability they now enjoy, not to mention the privilege of watching the shit show south of the border from the blessed sidelines.
How embarrassing, to have someone serving as president who is this clueless. Even more embarrassing to have a country which elected such a clown and a circus act to be the face and the voice of the country in the Oval Office - twice now!
My guess is that many among his cult followers will read this and believe it, without question or pause for thought. The polls in Canada obviously show that this is a lie, as do the words and actions of Canadians, including the new prime minister. But as you guys surely know as well, facts and obvious truths contradicting what Trump often claims never seems to dissuade them, or even give them pause for thought. So I guess it hardly matters.
Let's hope that this is a case of live and learn.
We shall see.
