Climate Watch: Record Breaking Heat Being Experienced in the American Southwest

      

The old button from the Environmental Club days which I just happened to find on Earth Day! It is a little beat up (particularly the ends of the ribbon), but no worse for the wear, I think. And it is one of the few items that I have left from those days, so it carries a lot of great memories for me! Nothing Changes Until You Do!

Already posted something earlier today about the first ever Heat Advisory issued for Alaska. 

Now, here's something about the intense heat wave - including some new record hot temperatures - being felt in the American West at the moment. 

Also, a link to an article published recently by Jeff Masters of Yale Climate Connections which apparently shows that last month - May of 2025 - was one of the hottest months on record.

A powerful heat wave continues to grip the Southwest, with dangerously high temperatures impacting much of Arizona, southeastern California, and parts of southern Nevada. Another round of records was achieved on Monday across the southwest. Imperial, CA broke a new record. It recorded a high of 115°, beating out the old record of 114°.
