That was not remotely the case with Beziers.
As I drove around, there were people everywhere. Kids on their way to school. People on their way to work. Trucks picking things up or making deliveries. People pulling off on the side of the road to drop someone off.
In short, it was busy, busy, busy.
Actually, I almost felt like an intruder. There I was, taking pictures of the sites, while all around me, people were rushing along, going about their business, trying to get to wherever they were going to. Hey, spot the person who doesn't belong!
Still, I had woken up early and drove to the centre villle of Beziers specifically for this reason. So no point getting dissuaded because it was more crowded and busy - far more crowded and busy, actually - than I had expected it to be.
The only thing to do was to keep taking pictures.
So that is what I did.
Beziers is a beautiful city. Not huge. It certainly won't overwhelm people with its size. So it is not especially famous, and thus often overlooked.
Take a look at these photos. They reveal this as a pretty city with a lot of charm to it.
Below are the pictures which I took of Beziers, which is one of the oldest cities in France, dating back to Roman times. The base of the bridge spanning the River Orb pictured below dates back to the Roman's. One sign off to the side of the highway claimed that there is 2,600 years of history here.
And it is all well worth a visit.
Take a look at the pictures which I took posted below.
Enjoy.
