NFL 2020

Monday Night Football

So, not surprisingly, the 49ers managed to end their losing streak by making sure to continue Washington's losing steak. The 49ers exploited Washington's weaknesses left and right.

In the process, the Monday Night Football game wound up being uneventful, boring, and predictable. No real tension or drama. Just a predictable blowout by one good team over one bad team.

Sorry, can't get too excited about this one, and go on and on. These two teams rank number one and number two on my least favorite teams list, and the only thing that makes me happy about it is that one of them lost.

San Francisco wins, and stays in the playoff run.

For Washington, just one more in a series of losses in a terrible season for them.

Predictions

On Thanksgiving Day, I believe that the Detroit Lions will break out of their recent slump to knock off the Green Bay Packers, effectively ending their season, most likely. In Dallas, the Cowboys should get by the Oakland Raiders. And I like the way the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing, with a head full of steam. But Baltimore is a tough place to play, which makes this a good, solid game. I like the Ravens squeaking by in a low scoring, defensive game.

I like New England handing the Texans their tenth straight defeat, and I have to say at this point that the Texans, far from being the best team in the league like many predicted in the beginning of the season, are looking actually like the worst team in the league so far. They are playing one of the best in the business, and it's hard to imagine that they can win this one.

Tampa has been hot lately, winning three straight. But that will end in Carolina, where the Panthers should remain hot, winning their eighth straight to try and keep the race close with the Saints.

A big showdown in Philly, where the Eagles host the Cardinals. In a bit of an upset, I like the Cardinals over the Eagles on the road.

I see the Bears struggling a bit in Minnesota but, ultimately, managing to pull off a victory to keep pace with Detroit.

The Colts should beat the Titans in Indy, and the Jets, in a big divisional game against Miami, should break out of their two game slump to edge the Dolphins, in a game that could go either way.

Jacksonville gets their second win in a row on the road, beating the Cleveland Browns, who really now do look like they have packed it in for the season.

In Buffalo, the Bills should get by the surprisingly lowly Atlanta Falcons in the cold of a December Sunday at Rich Stadium.

The Chargers stay alive and surprise the Bengals in San Diego in a close game. The 49ers beat the Rams ni San Fran.

Denver managed to scrape by to hand KC their third straight loss in a row, after an undefeated, 9-0 start.

The G-Men get by Washington, barely.

And in the big showdown of the week is on Monday Night Football, as the New Orleans Saints face the Seahawks in Seattle. This is a contrast in styles on some level, as well as a game between elite teams, and with huge ramifications for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Saints should play tough, but playing up in Seattle, with the loud crowd, and a tough team that plays it's best at home? Too much. I think the Seahawks win, pulling away a bit in the second half for a solid and convincing victory that will effectively secure home field advantage for them.

Now, I thought these were some cool links. Cool enough to add them to this blog entry. The first one is a look at what the NFL might look like in 2020, which used to seem like the distant future, but which is a little over six years from now:

This one was pretty cool as well. It shows what the logos for each NFL team might look like if they were done in the style of European football (soccer) teams, and some of the look really good! Personally, I was partial to the Rams, Chiefs and Cardinals, each of which looks almost like a royal crest, as well as the Falcons, which looked pretty bad ass. The logos for the Lions, Panthers, and Ravens were pretty awesome, too. Please let me know what you think! Here's the link, so you can take a look for yourself.
