With each trilogy, the creators of the film are trying to remain consistent with past tendencies.
For example, the first Star Wars movie ever was titled "A New Hope." The first movie of the next trilogy was "The Phantom Menace." And now, the first movie of this new trilogy (it is supposed to be a trilogy, right?) is "The Force Awakens."
In each case, there is an implied human presence, yet it is very indirect. More like a feeling, whether it's hope, phantom, menace, or the force that awakens.
There will be a lot of speculation then over the second and third installments. "Attack of the Clones" is similar to the "Empire Strikes Back." And "Return of the Jedi" was originally called "Revenge of the Jedi." They then thought that it was not really in the spirit of a Jedi to take revenge, so they changed the name at the last minute. So, fittingly, the last movie of the second trilogy was called "Revenge of the Sith," which makes more sense.
This title makes sense, and I look forward to the new movie, which is slated for release a little over a year from now, in December, 2015.
