Anti-Semitism Still Alive & Well in Ukraine

So, with the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz serving as a reminder of just how far prejudice and hated can force humanity to descend, you might think that people would be a little more careful to keep that kind of rabid anger in check. Particularly when that anger is targeting Jews, given the history of the Holocaust.

Unfortunately, you would be wrong.

In Ukraine, the rebel leader of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, has apparently shown a serious anti-Semitic streak.

What did he say?

Well, in reference to the pro-Western government in Kiev, he  suggested that they were "miserable representatives of the great Jewish people".

There has been continuing problems with anti-Semitism in Europe, but this seems particularly true in eastern Europe, including Ukraine and Russia.

Let's just hope it does not get more dire than it already is!
