It seems like it works out well for the Bills, who should be fairly loaded on defense despite this trade, but now have the kind of power running back that head coach Rex Ryan desires. Also, the Bills are in the process of acquiring quarterback Matt Cassel from the Vikings, bringing veteran leadership to a roster that needs such leadership at the QB position.
It would appear that the Bills are putting the pieces in place that should allow them to at least be a serious contender for a playoff spot, something that this franchise has not managed to reach since the 1999 season, when they lost in the "Music City Miracle" game at Tennessee.
A lot of people have been highly critical of the Philadelphia Eagles, and particularly Chip Kelly, in regards to this trade. However, Kelly seems pretty confident that, one way or the other, this trade works well for the franchise.
Kiko Alonso seems to bring not just a strong defensive presence for the Eagles, but also frees up a lot of room under the salary cap, so that they may now pursue some big talent free agents, potentially.
Should be interesting to see how this shapes up for both franchises going forward.
