President Obama is all for it, although he is going against the majority of his own Democratic party in the process.
Numerous Democrats, perhaps especially Elisabeth Warren, have been hugely and unapologetically critical of the president in their criticism.
For his part, Obama is essentially saying that these Democrats, and other liberal critics of the agreement, have no idea what they are saying.
Quite naturally, the trade agreement terms have not been fully disclosed to the public, keeping entirely in the democratic process. All we seem to hear about are the controversies involved, while the specifics of the term, from which we can judge for ourselves, are being kept from us.
Yet, the president says that we should take his word, and feel assured that this trade agreement will work favorably for Americans, and will create improved working conditions and more jobs.
The same thing was promised to us with NAFTA, although that seems to have gone squarely against the betterment of the people of the United States, as the real quality of life declined, and the agreement cost Americans jobs.
How then should we feel about Fast Track, which again, is being kept from public view? Why is not more of an issue made that this has not (yet) been released to the public, even though it seems to be on the way to being passed?
