Okay, so, yesterday, I wrote a little bit about the controversial history of what many consider to be the greatest rock song in history, Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven", as well as another song that could very well be a contender on that list, the Animals "House of the Rising Sun", which celebrated 50 years since being recorded yesterday.
And it got me to thinking: what might be the best songs of all time? I mentioned that many people believe Led Zep's song to be the single greatest rock song in history, and that I happen to agree with that. But obviously, this is not definitive. Music is a matter of taste, and everyone has differing opinions.
Yet, we might reach some consensus at least on some of the songs that find themselves perennial candidates on the list of greatest rock songs in history.
So, I decided to dedicate this blog entry to some of the songs that I think deserve, at the very least, honorable mention. You may or may not agree with these, but they are as follows (in no particular order):
