Nightmare Super Bowl

Not entirely sure why I never published this, but I figured it was time,

This was a post meant to be published around Super Bowl time, but it apparently slipped through my radar undetected, somehow.

So, here it is. Was not sure what to do with it, but hey, the Cowboys and Patriots could possibly meet in this year's Super Bowl, so it might not be entirely irrelevant, right?

I am not so much opposed to the Dallas Cowboys players themselves (although Dez Bryant seems a little full of himself at times). However, the fans that I know tend to be obnoxious and filled with a false sense of entitlement.

Not so sure that Patriots fans are the same. In fact, my impressions have been that they are decidedly more reserved than that, on average. Of course, they are from the cold northeast, and not a warm climate like the Cowboys. They are from stubborn New England, and had to endure decades of losing and a decidedly unremarkable NFL resume before they finally got a team that stood out for all the right reasons, and that was a fine and proud edition for the team.

Yet, they have kind of become the new Dallas Cowboys, if you will. They generate the kind of animosity just at the mere mention, in a similar manner to those Dallas Cowboys of yesteryear.

How did it happen?

Well, everyone seems to think that Tom Brady is essentially an overgrown brat who's incredibly smug and full of himself. And some think that Bill Belichick is an evil genius of a coach, and that he systematically relies on cheating to help his Patriots win. In fact, I heard that team referred to once (don't remember where) as "Pure Evil."

"spitting out chunks of chicken wings and nachos from their mouths while screaming with rage at both teams on Super Bowl Sunday was too funny to not relish. Given how most Americans feel about both franchises, the only acceptable outcome for such a game would have been if the stadium’s turf cracked wide open and Satan’s gigantic hands had surged through to drag both teams into hell."
