Scott Walker Quits Presidential Campaign

Yes, Scott Walker dropped out of the GOP presidential race yesterday, after watching his frontrunner status earlier this year deteriorate, particularly due to the popularity of more anti-establishment candidates like Trump. By the time that he decided to withdraw, he had half of one percent support, which meant that he had become entirely insignificant in the race.

In addressing his departure, he urged Republicans to embrace a positive overall message, and knock off the negative campaign. He also urged many of his fellow Republicans to drop out, so that someone could finally eclipse the frontrunner status of Donald Trump, although Walker never actually said Trump's name.

Personally, I think that Walker's dropping out of the race is good news, because this guy was bad news. I mean, really bad news, and precisely because he had been considered a serious candidate to be president.

Why would I find him particularly alarming?

Take a look at his platform:

- He wanted to start a preemptive war from the first day that he would take office.

- He wanted to bust unions, by doing the same thing for the country that he did for Wisconsin.

- He wanted to build a costly border fence with Canada, ending the good spirit that exists between the two nations.

- He wanted to eliminate weekends, believing that Americans are too lazy and need to work harder.

- He transparently served at the bidding of the Koch brothers, and outright pursued big money from other huge, elite special interests.

With all of that and more, Scott Walker was extremely dangerous, and that is why I found myself celebrating his bad fortune. I am not entirely sure what went wrong with his campaign, because he seemed to be one of the candidates with the best chances for success earlier in the race, and fell long and hard. All I know is that this failure on his part is likely good for America as a nation.
