24 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Visit Australia

I don't really believe this. In fact, if someone offered me a trip to Australia tomorrow, I would gladly accept, and with a huge debt of gratitude. After all, there have been people living in Australia for many thousands of years, despite all of these dangerous things that inhabit that land. Twenty million people live there still, and they do not seem overly troubled by all of these admittedly very dangerous and creepy things that many of us think of when we  think of Australia.

So, in other words, the chances of actually being seriously hurt, or even of possibly losing your life, tends to be greatly exaggerated. There is a greater chance of getting seriously hurt by driving into the wrong part of the city and breaking down, or by an automobile accident, or perhaps in some robbery or other violent crime gone wrong, than there is of being bitten by a super-poisonous spider or snake in Australia, or perhaps being stung by a box jellyfish, or some other horrific and painful experience in the Australian wild.

Still, it is fascinating to think of all of these amazing creatures living in Australia, and so here is a link that allows you to take a look, if you are so inclined:

  1. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the total number of people killed by exotic Australian wildlife in any given year most likely pales by comparison to the number of gun casualties here in the Land of Milk and Honey. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the number of people killed by guns here in any given MONTH probably exceeds the number of people killed by exotic Australian wildlife in any given year.

  2. Not sure, although I do believe that if the numbers of fatalities for exotic Australian wildlife were that high, it would move out of the realm of myth, and into statistics. The sheer level of that kind of sense of exotic danger tends to be more glamorized than gun violence here in the US, yes.
