Things have been quite grim lately, it seems. We have the worst national leader in American history currently residing in the White House, and for once, he seems to be ready to go against his base on something. Naturally, it's aggressively pining for a war that could potentially quickly escalate, because it might involve Russia. There are tons of other issues that are urgent and growing worse, including environmental degradation and climate change, which is still viewed as political, and thus controversial, here in the United States exclusively. The living standards here are clearly on decline, and the global population is still growing rapidly, although the rate of growth seems to have stabilized somewhat. But tensions are on the rise as authoritarianism seems to be back in fashion, and there have been waves of ugly nationalistic and xenophobic sentiments that are ever more pronounced in numerous countries around the world.
When things seem that dire, sometimes you need to step back and take a break, just for the purposes of sanity. I am learning to let go in this way more over time, and not kicking myself any longer for not wanting to engage in serious subject matter all day, every day. That has always been the case, but in the Trump era, with the relentless, and frankly, I suspect, fully intentional efforts to some tireless efforts to bombard the American public with one thing after another, one crisis after another, day after day, week after week, month after month and, most assuredly, it will be year after year.
That's Trump. Trump is filled with drama, and that is what he has brought to this country. One of many charmless things that he has brought, and he feels that we should thank him for it, to boot.
And so, here is a blog entry that is considerably more lighthearted.
This is a blog entry that explores what Anakin Skywalker would have looked like at his normal middle age. That is to say, if he had not gotten all of his limbs cut off and then getting himself burned my smoking hot magma after he tried to do a force leap right over Obi Wan Kenobi. Obviously, he did not make it, and overestimated his own power.
After that, of course, Anakin was more machine than man. He had lost the love of his life, and was consumed by hate. In a very real sense, Anakin no longer existed at all, replaced entirely by his new identity: Darth Vader.
But what would he have looked like had he remained as Anakin? What would he have looked like at middle age?
Here is an interesting link to find out:
