Geoffrey Owens used to be on "The Cosby Show," and got quite a bit of attention for that, playing the sin-in-law of the Huckstables.
However, he received much different kinds of attention recently, as he was spotted by someone working at a Trader Joe's. Before he knew what was going on, he saw his own image posted everywhere on the internet.
The episode is being described as "job shaming," as whoever took the pictures seemed almost to delight in seeing a once well-known actor suddenly seemingly stooped to working this kind of job. It seems that some people feel that working at a supermarket like this is "lowly," and perhaps it was a surprise to see someone who used to be a regular feature on a popular television program suddenly working a a local supermarket.
This generated considerable controversy, and Owens decided to speak out, going on ABC's Good Morning America" show to discuss this recent episode, and to make sure to speak out a bit against the job shaming, and to take pride in his work.
Here is the video (see above) of his recent appearance on ABC.
