Today marks the last day of my trip to southern California. I have a flight later this morning scheduled for 11:30 PST back to New Jersey. For better or for worse, this trip is basically over.
Indeed, I will be returning back home to New Jersey today. This trip to Los Angeles/Beverly Hills is now over.
In truth, I am not as sad as usual after a trip. Usually, I feel sad to come home, feeling that a trip went by too quickly. That was not so much the case this time around, because with the responsibilities of work, and the nervousness of what it might do to me physically was always there, right to the last day.
After all, this one took more of a physical toll on me than any other trip which I can remember. It had been many, many years since the last time that I was on my feet for as many hours overall as I have been on this trip. And back then, of course, that was a younger, lighter, far more energetic version of me.
Things are different now.
A part of me is glad to be going home. After all, this was not purely a recreational trip, just pure fun. No, it was a work trip, and as such, it could be exhausting.
So for once, I am actually quite content to go back. At least I know what to expect once I get back, and not being on my feet for almost an entire shift.
