The thing is, I had gotten these airline tickets weeks before Newark became a nightmare.
As it turned out, the inconveniences in leaving Newark were minor. Minimal, really.
Yet apparently, it was not Newark only that I should have been worried about.
Once we arrived at Lisbon Airport, a massive line for the passport check unlike anything that I had experienced ever seen before was right there, almost at the gate that we left out of. Not an exaggeration. With all of the twists and turns, it might have been half a mile long.
Plus, it was hot and uncomfortable in the airport.
To their credit, they gave out water bottles. But I heard someone suggesting that it was the least that they could do. Frankly, I am inclined to agree. It felt like way too little too late.
I only thought about taking pictures right at the end.
