Lisbon Visit #4: Padrao des Descombrimentos

So this was also a monument that intrigued me,  even if it was admittedly not very high on my personal list of things to see in Lisbon. 

Yet,  I kind of stumbled upon it on the way to the Belem Tower, which was my absolute top priority. 

It was actually pretty cool and interesting. The designs of the ground were quite fascinating. Also, I appreciated the theme honoring the spirit of exploration and attempting to quench intellectual thirst, even if the explorers themselves left behind troubling legacies. 

So even though this was not part of my original itinerary, it enhanced my Lisbon visit quite a bit. 

To that end, it seemed worth sharing some pictures of it.
