Usually, I would not target anyone's lack of education, or perhaps spelling or grammatical errors, or other things that point to some academic deficiency. After all, it can be a bad look, reinforcing the stereotype of some elitist sitting atop an ivory tower and looking down one's nose at the uneducated peasants down below. Also, I have known some people who have a legitimate disability - namely dyslexia - which feels wrong to use against them.
Now that said, I am making an exception here for one major reason. After all, Linda McMahon, the wife of Wrestling Emperor Vince McMahon, is now officially the Secretary of Education. Despite her frankly lack of qualifications, she was appointed to that title by President Trump. And in that position, she feels entitled to try and push the weight of her title and office around with major decisions impacting education in the United States.
She even apparently feels entitled to lecture Harvard University regarding the finer points of President Trump's approach on education. The Trump White House has been pushing Harvard for their apparent failure to fall in line with Trump's attacks on DEI.
Harvard responded perfectly.
Yes, they are kind of the symbol of elites in their ivory towers, and this response kind of reinforces that. Again, though, this is directed at Linda McMahon, who dares to try and pose as a responsible and caring lead figure in education in the United States. So marking her ridiculous letter and pointing out the lack of clarity and spelling and grammatical errors feels entirely justified in this instant.
Originally, I got this from the Facebook page of former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese (the link to the original post is down below).
