Those memes came all of a sudden, and I always thought them a bit bizarre and, admittedly, not particularly funny. There is always something a bit uncomfortable about things like that, when they are aimed to essentially get people to laugh at others.
Also, it was just a strange thing, and I was not a huge fan of the whole "Ermahgerd" thing. The grumpy cat is one thing, but this was just...well....kind of dumb.
However, running into this article, it looked interesting. And as I read it, it seemed like something that people should know about, that this is a real person who was the focal point of this phenomenon, and not on purpose, either. It was just one of those things, one of those strange stories that is likely to grow more common in this age of the internet.
